I’ve been working on a mind-bendingly difficult project for the last couple of weeks at work and I think I’ve been able to concentrate enough to at least state the current hurdle in a reasonable form. I’m ready to knock out these static libraries and move on though. #mbfeb

I’m hoping all these inactives for the Seahawks don’t make for a dreary game. At least we’ve still got Russ in there! #mbnov

I’m excited to have had a conversation with Rick Wolter about for the October edition of the @xcoders podcast. He’s got a great story and has started a fantastic group called Underdog Devs to help folks get into the software business after being incarcerated.

There was a kind Ziply tech in the area earlier today who saw we had an outage. He came by and replaced the cable from the pole to our ONT and we have our house internet back.

Thank you, kind sir.

We got home this afternoon to a dead FIOS ONT box, so no internet for us. The soonest a tech can come out with a new one is Tuesday morning so that will make for a scramble drill to get school up and running tomorrow and Tuesday AM.

Every time I successfully back up our van and hitch up our trailer to it I hear Jack Swigert from Apollo 13 saying “capture”. That’s not weird, right?

I updated the primary branch in my iOS Project Template Repository to use main instead of master. Still more repos to go through but I’m happy to be making improvements even a little bit at a time.

Semi-bold WWDC keynote prediction: While the Mac will make a CPU transition, it will be to Apple processors and the word ARM will not be uttered or shown on screen during the keynote. The focus is on Apple-made CPUs.

Our May episode of the Xcoders podcast is out. We are starting a signal boosting theme where people looking for work come on the show. I’m really happy with how this first one with Brian Covey (@hidvorak) turned out!

Typo of the day: pod install —repoo-update

I was today years old when I learned that UIPickerView is not a UIControl subclass.

Also TIL that CGSize is not Hashable. What else will I learn today?

Deleting @xcoders from my calendar for the week was painful. I miss gathering in person with that group.

I’ve put a few things up for sale. Check out my garage sale page if a Thunderbolt Dock, ergonomic keyboard, or Logitech webcam interest you 🙂

I needed to update my résumé today. But of course the first thing you do before updating the content is getting its build system up to date, right?

Mission accomplished! 🎉

I was one of the 17% of layoffs today at Lyft. I learned a ton in my time there and will miss the people I worked with.

I know God’s gonna take care of my family and me (and I already have prospects lined up). Jesus always provides, even when it looks differently than I want.

Okay, I think it’s finally time for me to change my shell from bash (I know, I know I just haven’t had time to figure things out). The new macOS default is zsh, and I’ve also heard good things about fish. I’ve got several aliases and scripts in my bash profile. What should I do?

I’m excited to have tickets to upcoming remote conferences: App Builders and UIKonf. Both speaker lineups look amazing! It’s an early start for me in PDT land but I’m usually up early anyways because of my kids 😂

I’m really enjoying The Last Dance on ESPN about the 90’s Bulls. I’ve not cared about the NBA in a long time – since the Sonics left town. I’m getting super nostalgic for the NBA of my childhood.

Bring back the Sonics.

Welp, I should have said “attempting to cancel” our trip. Because I can’t even get through to the LegoLand bookers “due to unprecedented call volume”. Ugh.

Canceling our Spring Break trip to LegoLand California 😭
