New post from jsorge.net: Scorebook 1.5 Retrospective
The new version of XcodeGen was released today! I upgraded easily, broke apart my modules into separate included yaml spec files, and even implemented Artsy’s advice to use SPM to run it.
Good night for Scorebook progress!
Wow. Started a Swift 5 branch for Scorebook and in < 10 minutes it was building without warnings. This language has come a long, long way.
Kites over Long Beach.
Made it to my parents' beach cabin just in time for the tail end of the sunset.
I love the old-timey signs that are still on display around downtown Seattle.

DNS propagated and my site is back up. Huzzah!
Current status: waiting for DNS to propagate.
Dang, something screwed up on my site’s server. I’m getting a weird nginx/Docker error when I try to start things back up. Anyone have any ideas?
ERROR: for tools_nginx_1 Cannot start service nginx: driver failed programming external connectivity on endpoint tools_nginx_1 : Error starting userland proxy: listen tcp 0.0.0.0:443: bind: address already in use
I’ve checked and nothing is listening on port 443. I might just wind up nuking the server and starting a new one tonight.
Put my 500mm Canon lens on my Sony camera to get some moon shots. It’s not the crispest but gets good and close.
In what must be a sure sign of maturing, I added 2 PRs that are only integration tests before writing a bunch of code that could break a feature’s integration at runtime.
Maybe there is something to test driven development after all…
Scorebook is back! jsorge.net
Working on a new blog post with some exciting news. Being concise is hard for me, along with conveying my excitement throughout the post. It’s been a long journey to get where we are and I hope we’re just getting started.
I’ve been using Xcodegen from @yonaskolb for generating my Xcode projects and I couldn’t be more excited about PR #489, which will import sub-specs with relative paths.
This one is gonna be a huge addition to a wonderful library.
After too long away, I’m back to micro.blog. I think I put too many tooling barriers between me and writing before I was ready to host it all myself.
Backing off that for a bit just to get going again.
Next week I’m giving a talk about being a programmer to my sister’s 6th grade class. The kids gave me some questions to answer and I think I’m going to build a little app with them too. Any advice for this talk is much appreciated 🙂
There were a ton of cheesehead Packer fans around downtown Seattle today. It was especially appropriate when I saw a few come out of Beecher’s at the market. Go Hawks!
A new Mac mini would come in so handy in encoding this beastly box set. It’s okay though, I’m patient 😊
The new Mac mini looks fantastic! It would be great someday to replace my 2012 version with one of these.
