Felt a pop in the center of my lower back this morning, followed by pain and difficulty moving. Thankfully ice and a hot shower seem to be helping things a bit. Hope your Saturday is off to a better start 🙂

When I’m procrastinating shipping an app update, I change something or implement something on my blog.

Why yes, I am putting in a dark mode. Why do you ask? 😉

I’ve never wished I knew how to cross-country ski and had gear to do so. That changed this morning on my walk to work, when the sidewalks were buried under the fallen snow and the plowed snow from the road.

It was a super snowy walk into my office this morning. Someone had ridden their snowmobile down the sidewalk, and my feet kept sinking into the snow. I ended up walking on the road most of the way.

I’ve got one more feature to add to Scorebook 1.6 and then I’ll be ready to ship it. I want to add data import/export to the Files app.

We got an Orbi wifi pair last week and tried to print to our ancient LaserJet 1300 today but it only gave us errors.

Turns out our Synology DS1515+ has 4 USB ports on it and can function as a print server. I love learning new things about gear we already have.

Adding some shortcuts to Scorebook, and I can’t for the life figure out why it’s preferable to use a static UIApplicationShortcutItem.

The app still needs to have the identifiers coded somewhere for handling, so why mess with the Info.plist?

The new version of XcodeGen was released today! I upgraded easily, broke apart my modules into separate included yaml spec files, and even implemented Artsy’s advice to use SPM to run it.

Wow. Started a Swift 5 branch for Scorebook and in < 10 minutes it was building without warnings. This language has come a long, long way.

Made it to my parents' beach cabin just in time for the tail end of the sunset.

I love the old-timey signs that are still on display around downtown Seattle.

Dang, something screwed up on my site’s server. I’m getting a weird nginx/Docker error when I try to start things back up. Anyone have any ideas?

ERROR: for tools_nginx_1  Cannot start service nginx: driver failed programming external connectivity on endpoint tools_nginx_1 : Error starting userland proxy: listen tcp 0.0.0.0:443: bind: address already in use

I’ve checked and nothing is listening on port 443. I might just wind up nuking the server and starting a new one tonight.

Put my 500mm Canon lens on my Sony camera to get some moon shots. It’s not the crispest but gets good and close.

In what must be a sure sign of maturing, I added 2 PRs that are only integration tests before writing a bunch of code that could break a feature’s integration at runtime.

Maybe there is something to test driven development after all…
